12 Gifts for the Diehard Doctor Who Fan

By on August 3, 2013

UPDATE: Peter Capaldi is the 12th Doctor!

After months of speculation, the identity of the 12th Doctor Who will finally be unveiled this Sunday, August 4th (11AM PT on BBC America). Two months ago, the current Doctor, Matt Smith, announced he would be leaving the role as the 11th incarnation of the Time Lord.

Here at The CheckOut, we’ve collected 12 Doctor Who gifts that we think will delight the Whovian in your life (even if that happens to be you).

1. TARDIS iPhone 5 Case ($19, Amazon)

Firstly, if you own an iPhone, you’re going to need a case. Secondly, that case would have to be in the shape of the TARDIS.

If you already own the TARDIS case, there are other options, such as a “Keep Calm, I’m the Doctor” iPhone 5 case ($44, Redbubble).

2. Sonic Screwdriver ($38, ThinkGeek)

Who doesn’t want this replica of the Matt Smith Doctor Who sonic screwdriver, which features spring-loaded extending action, LED and sound effects for good measure?

Or, if you prefer, go for the David Tennant model ($38, ThinkGeek).

3. Desktop Patrol Dalek ($35, Amazon)

This 4″ tall red Dalek has built-in sensors so it won’t fall off your desk as it shouts “Exterminate! Exterminate!” at everything in its path. For those times when you’re feeling particularly antisocial.

4. Limited Edition TARDIS Tin Tote Lunch Box ($20, Amazon)

A perfect gift for the back-to-school season, even if you’re too old to be going to school. It measures 7″ x 8.5″ on the outside, and no, it’s not any roomier on the inside.

5. The Master’s Fob Watch ($45, Amazon)

This 2″ replica of the iconic pocket watch is engraved with the Time Lords’ Gallifreyan language. It’s illuminated with a blue glowing nightlight and includes a 13″ chain.

6. TARDIS vs Dalek Salt and Pepper Shaker Set ($18, Amazon)

Pass the pepper if you dare.

 7. TARDIS Mini Fridge ($80, ThinkGeek)

Measuring just 10.5″ high, this alien fridge would fit right at home in a college dorm room or office. It can hold a six-pack of 12-ounce cans and makes the signature Vworp Vworp! sound.

8. Dalek Projector Alarm Clock ($36, Amazon)

There are a lot of projector clocks out there, but very few that will shout “Exterminate!” to wake you from your slumber.

9. Seal of Rassilon Cufflinks ($19, Amazon)

For that subtle hint of Whovian devotion, don a pair of cufflinks stamped with the Seal of Rassilon, the founder of the Time Lord society on Gallifrey.

For the ladies, you can find a pair of matching Gallifrey Earrings ($13, Etsy).

10. TARDIS Teapot ($34, Amazon)

What better way to celebrate this quintessentially British sci-fi show than with a teapot? This ceramic teapot is 7″ tall and will hold about 25 ounces of tea.

If coffee is more your thing, a TARDIS mug ($18, Amazon) will do the trick.

11. Complete Series 1-7 Blu-ray Gift Set ($315, pre-order, Amazon)

If money is no object, then take a look at this recently announced Blu-ray gift set of the first seven seasons of the new Doctor Who. The newly remastered, high definition set will debut before the November 23rd airing of the 50th Anniversary Special.

12. Bonus: Do-It-Yourself TARDIS Transformer

If you happen to have a 3D printer lying around, then a DIY TARDIS Transformer is the ultimate gift for any Whovian. You can download the instructions at Instructables.
