Terrible: An Empty Frame or Photo Album

photo-frameI’m not quite sure why, but I received a boatload of these when I graduated from high school.

We’re talking shiny “congratulations” frames with stock photos of smiling young ladies in gaps and gowns (who were clearly way too old to be graduating from high school) shoved in them. It’s basically a terrible attempt to be sentimental, but in the most generic way possible.

Awesome: A Custom Photo Book

Don’t get them a frame unless you have a meaningful photo to put in it. Even more impressive, you could also make them a special photo book to remember their high school or college years.

There are tons of places online that make it incredibly easy to upload photos and turn them into custom memory books; most even have graduation-specific templates. There are often coupon codes available for these, so don’t forget to keep an eye out for them on Ben’s!

    No small appliances? Really….

A Ninja Blender or the Bullet are not good but great gifts for a recent grad. Anything that encourages going to the gym and having a protein shake is a good thing.

And a stylish USB Drive is a good gift? Really…

When people can’t think of anything else they buy a USB Drive. Only clueless girls looking to gain favor with a guy who absolutely doesn’t know she exists – get these type of gifts.

The pen and jewelry (watch in my case) ring especially true.

I’m going to sound ungrateful here, but that $80 pen and $300 watch are going to be far less useful than the $380 cash. Hell, that’s my first student loan payment right there!

I like your choices except for Dr. Seuss. Surely even the most mercenary, materialistic student among us can find room to stash a tome of sage advice from Theodore Geisel! BTW, great choice on substitute for the book. I’ll leave you with this:

    You’re wrong as the deuce
    And you shouldn’t rejoice
    If you’re calling him Seuss.
    He pronounces it Soice!
