Finally Get a Look At The Wachowski Siblings’ Netflix Show, Sense8
If there’s been any development out of the Netflix camp in desperate need of extreme clarification, it’s Sense8. The globe-jumping sci-fi show from the Wachowski siblings is due for premiere in June, and now Netflix has finally released a trailer, confirming there is indeed a plot and an alarmingly literal translation of the title.
You could almost make the argument the series is a combination of two of the Wachowskis’ films, The Matrix and Cloud Atlas, the former of one man evolving into an enlightenment of sorts, the later about people connected over time and space in the grand history of the earth.
Most importantly, Sense8 reintroduces the world to Sayid from Lost, now the omniscient source of wisdom instead of the guy completely getting screwed over by fate. You were a good man, Sayid. You were a good man.
Sense8 might represent a wonderful new start for the Wachowski siblings, who have struggled ever since their breakout science fiction all-time great, The Matrix, starting convincing people that reality is just a computer program and you really can fly as long as you understand code. Also, code is only cool when it scrolls vertically in green, indecipherable text.
Recently, Jupiter Ascending, featuring Channing Tatum as a space-wolf-man and Mila Kunis as the butterfly whisperer, did little to convince the masses of the siblings’ comeback on the big screen. Sense8 premiers June 5, an important day for Netflix and the siblings both. Television has proven fertile ground for many an old dog in need of new tricks.
Unfortunately, June 5 is not today’s date, unless this article survives an unexpected amount of time. If you’re stuck with current Netflix, which isn’t nearly as fun as future Netflix, you can check out our rundown of May’s release schedule for the service. It’s a bit sparse, but there are some gems here and there.
