Trailer: Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur is Drop Extinct Georgous
It’s been a while since I’ve watched a trailer for an animated movie and simply been blown away by the visuals alone. The last time might’ve actually been the first Transformers film, which I count as animated because the people parts are worth forgetting.
Today, I can’t watch the first real trailer for Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur without confusing reality for fantasy at least three times in a matter of two and a half minutes. Here it is:
From YouTube:
“The Good Dinosaur asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.”
There’s certainly a minimalist vibe akin to Wall-E, what with all the lack of dialogue and such. The relationship between Arlo and his cavechild buddy is bound to draw out some tears. Let’s assume one of them is going to come perilously close to death.
The Good Dinosaur hits theaters on Nov. 25, 2015, marking the rare year encompassing two Pixar releases. It’ll be tough to beat out Inside Out in shear innovation and creativity, but The Good Dinosaur is already a visual achievement.
