Funko Gives Ant-Man His Own Pop! Figurine
He might not have shown up in Age of Ultron like some might have hoped, but the littlest Avenger, Ant-Man, is due for the spotlight as his standalone film approaches the finality of public release. As is hopefully becoming tradition, Funko blesses us with two Pop! figurines inspired by the upcoming event.
In case you can’t tell, that’s Ant-Man, also known as reformed criminal Scott Lang, also known as Paul Rudd, also known as Phoebe’s husband. The suit itself was created by Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, played by Michael Douglas in the film.
Next up is Yellowjacket, another dude that shrinks down to microscopic size, only this suit has guns and generally evokes a a more pointed image. Corey Stoll, best known for his senatorial role in House of Cards, will portray this villain.
Funko posted up these images on its own website, promising the figurines’ release in June preceding the film’s debut on July 17. Here’s a trailer for that, because trailers are more fun than words, but not quite as fun as Pop! figurines.
Despite the disappointing lack of tiny gentlemen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it seems Marvel hasn’t quite written off the character as a one-and-done. Paul Rudd has been confirmed to reprise his role as the character in Captain America: Civil War, the third in Cap’s standalone films that’s looking more and more like an Avenger’s 3.
I’ll admit a bit of an unhealthy adulation for the Pop! figurines, which run across all mediums and all things pop culture, not incidentally. Here are some Pop! figurines inspired by the video game Evolve.
And here are some pretty sweet figures based around Age of Ultron, in case you missed that train. Oh, and speaking of trains.
