Starting last year, Amazon has continued to offer a bonus credit when trading in an old Amazon device (or related devices from other brands).

Amazon is offering the largest discount on Echo devices, specifically 25% off on the purchase of a new Amazon Echo, Echo Dot or Echo Show. In order to qualify for the discount, you have to trade-in older Echo devices.

For instance, a 1st generation Amazon Echo in good condition will get you $25 back in a digital gift card as well as a 25% off coupon on a new Echo device. You could go from 1st generation to 4th generation for roughly $50, which is half the cost of the 4th gen Echo speaker.

You could also pursue a large discount by trading in a third gen, Echo Dot for $5 (ideal for anyone that took advantage of the Echo Dot for $9 deal last year) and use that 25% off discount to get $62 off the new Echo Show 10.

Beyond 25% off on new Echo devices, Amazon is offering 20% bonus discounts for trade-ins across a barrage of categories:

Regarding trade-in value, Echo devices appear to offer some of the better trade-in values while Fire TV devices off the worst. But if you were planning on upgrading anyway, it’s going to be worth it for the additional discount.

Two things to keep in mind to save even more money:

1. The % off discount is automatically applied in your cart when you purchase the new device through midnight on November 30, 2021. That means the discount will be available during Prime Day as well as Black Friday & Cyber Monday. You may save even more money by waiting for additional sales on your new device.
2. Watch for bonus % back offers on the Amazon Prime Visa card. The base is 5% back, but Amazon likes to offer additional discounts on Amazon devices during Q4. Potentially, you could save up to another 20% by using that specific credit card during checkout.

Related to Toys R Us ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization issues, the toy retailers has made a decision to shutter roughly 20 percent of retail locations within the U.S. If you are searching for toy deals at those locations, going-out-of-business sales will start in February and continue though April 2018.

3 tips for shopping a liquidation sale:

• Use your smartphone to research price points. Liquidators will often set discounts based on the MSRP, not the store’s regular sale price. In the early days of the liquidation, the sale price could actually be higher than normal.
• Timing is important. Liquidation sales typically last 8 to 10 weeks, usually starting at 10% off. Week 3 & 4 are often when stock starts to dwindle, mainly because the discount will rise during those weeks. If you wait to week 6 & beyond, the item you want may already be gone.
• Check the product thoroughly before purchase. Most liquidation sales have a “All Sales are Final” policy, which means no returns. Check to see if all parts are included. Also, use a credit card. If the product is damaged, you can usually dispute the charge and get your money back.

However, we may see additional deals when the paper version of the Black Friday ad drops. Definitely a fantastic price for a name-brand television, this 49″ Toshiba HDTV (49L310U)normally sells for $429. With Father’s Day weekend rapidly approaching, retailers have already started rolling out a rash of early sales during the first week of June to make sure you have time to order something for your Dad. In years past, Father’s Day sales are usually combined with gifts for graduates since most graduations around the country are happening this month.

Be aware that many of these sales are meant to capture the attention of gift hunters, not necessarily deal hunters. Our veteran deal editors have started analyzing each Father’s Day sale in order to evaluate the quality. We don’t want you to spend your hard-earned money on items that simply aren’t deals.

When we evaluate a sale, we are approaching it with two questions in mind:
