First New X-Files Footage is Brief and Way Too Brief
Fox aired the first footage of its X-Files comeback series during Wayward Pines on July 16. It was the most exciting thing about Wayward Pines that night. Here it is, via Tweet:

As evidenced, both David Duchovny and and Gillian Anderson return in their iconic rolls as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively. We also catch a glimpse of Mulder’s famous poster, some mysterious alien stuff and, of course, that theme song.
Both stars have signed on for one extra 6-episode “revival” series, set to begin airing on Jan. 24, 2016. Anderson’s most recent work is NBC’s recently cancelled, but notoriously excellent Hannibal. Duchovny is on NBC’s Aquarius, itself in its first year and picked up for a second.
This revival mirrors another recent success for Fox. Kiefer Sutherland and a number of other notable regulars returned to the 24 universe of terrorism, torture and American pride. That aired in the summer of 2014 and rumors of a spin-off series or straight up continuation have been swirling ever since.
And much like 24, Fox’s X-Files extra life will probably end on a cliffhanger and give us nothing but separation anxiety all over again. You game?
