Target Restock, a Prime Pantry competitor, launches nationwide

Originally targeting multiple large metropolitan areas, Target has announced Restock has gone nationwide providing service to about 75 percent of all Americans.

Target Restock is basically a competitor to Amazon’s Prime Pantry. Target customers choose from over 35,000 popular household items, fill a box up to 45 pounds and receive the order the following day, assuming the order if placed by 7 p.m. local time Monday through Friday.

One difference between the two services is that Target is offering cheaper shipping. Amazon charges $6 for a single Prime Pantry order while Target only charges $3. In addition, shipping is free from Target if you order with a RedCard (Target’s store credit card).

Target is also forgoing any form of subscription model, an option that Amazon offers to Prime members for an additional $5 per month in order to get free shipping on all Prime Pantry orders.

Target is also attempting to out perform Amazon on speed. Amazon states Prime Pantry orders will take between one to four days to arrive while Target is offering next day delivery, ideal for anyone that needs supplies quickly for an event.

Types of “household essentials” in the Target Restock service includes baby supplies, personal care items, food & beverages, pet supplies, school supplies, personal care items and home improvement purchases. It’s somewhat more expansive than the product categories Amazon offers.

   Target Red card can be tied to a checking account. I have a red card and do not have a credit card with them. Your article is incorrect in identifying the red card as “Target’s store credit card”
