Popular Movies Turned into Pulp Comics, Novels

By on June 24, 2023

Created by illustrator Tim Anderson, this collection of illustrations takes the classic 1920s pulp novel covers and applies the style to popular movie franchises. Movies adapted into pulp comics and novels within the collection include The Matrix, The Incredibles, Alien, Blade Runner, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

The Star Wars series is particularly creative since the illustrator also gave each movie a new title, specifically to tantalize the audience that reads seedy, pulp novels. In addition to his work with the pulp style, Anderson has already created other minimalist and homage art related to The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, The Fantastic Four, the Lord of the Rings series, Pee Wee Herman, Star Trek: Into Darkness and Gladiator.

If you are interested in purchasing a print of these pulp comic and novel illustrations, Anderson sells prints in regular and poster size on his Big Cartel storefront here. Check out some of our favorite illustrations from his collection below:
