Are there any Verizon customers disgusted by the $30 activation fee. I’m going to have to evaluate my relationship with Verizon over this kind of greed.
Ohhhhh.... I see this bargain posting is using the misleading scam picture that Apple released to make it look like there isn't a notch in the top of the screen... Caveat emptor

I had been an ATT customer for awhile. I am sure Verizon customer service will have something similar. After getting the phone, I go home and call customer service. I "complain" nicely to the rep that on the way home, I was a little peeved that I still have to pay for activation even though I was a loyal customer. Be nice is the key. Don't get angry, just vent a little frustration. They usually will credit your account for the activation fee. If you work for a mid-large size company or belong to a club like AAA, there might be other incentives they can add to your account. I always call and be extremely nice to the person on the phone and I usually get a decent compromise.
Late-breaking deal that might interest folks is Xfinity Mobile (basically a cheap MVNO for Xfinity cable customers only). They're offering a $300 rebate with an iPhone XS or Max purchase (via incredibly slow prepaid card) attached to only a 90-day commitment to their service.
I don't understand the math. How could that be a BOGO deal if the company is only offering $700 off on the second device? the Xs model is at least $999 per device. Who is going to pay for the difference of $299 + tax? Am I wrong?

Until they turn on you. Watch out for Skynet.
Thank you!
