^ Why would you be surprised? Zippo and Bic, will be around long after the rest have come and gone. Mankind will always find it useful to be able to start a fire.
An all metal zippo has an advantage over a plastic Bic in that if you want to start a campfire, etc, you can just leave the zippo sitting there till the wood has caught fire while the Bic will melt, and needs something strapped on to hold the valve open anyway.
You can use one of those dollar store wand aka fireplace lighters instead, and that's a good idea if planning for it, but they are fragile in a camping environment so a zippo makes a good backup.
