Why do I want wifi? Download video to a phone with an app? It just seems like the few times I'd want to do that, I could just use the alternate method with USB or pull the memory card, no?
A lot of newer vehicles are also wifi hotspots. Probably what whatatay means.
Although yeah, not hard at all to pull video without it. Wouldn't sway my purchase decision one way or the other.
^ Okay, you pay a subscription for that right? Then what benefit, automatic upload to a cloud?
I suppose if you're in a fiery wreck, it could be hard to pull anything off a charred dash cam, but I also wonder how long it would take to upload 1440p to a cloud, usually if fire doesn't consume the vehicle right away you have a chance to pull the cam out, unless you're too injured to do so.
I have this camera and use it everyday. Set it and forget it. As soon as the power comes on it starts recording 3 minute 1440p clips. Mine bakes in my car all day long and hasn't died yet. If you live where there is lots of sun get the polarizing filter.
WiFi would be nice for notifications. But your car needs a permanent internet connection.
