For 5 bucks its worth experimenting with. If you don't want to unhook your setup just to play pc games on your tv this can definitely help. Also can mirror your desktop so you can watch other things thru your pc on your tv. Google around...some services/browsers can behave differently with it when using games/services outside of Steam. Compatible with several game controllers from other gaming systems. Mine came with several power plug types as well so if you travel abroad this tiny little box can come with you.
My computer is about 30 yards from the TV that I use this on. This is great to eliminate unwanted cables. Steam recommends a wired connection from your PC to hub and Link to hub. However, I use Wi-FI. Wi-Fi works good on most games but forget it on games like Destiny 2.
I have no regrets about buying this and at this price it's a steal. I think that Steam are clearing the decks in preparation for the launch of a 4K version that will compete with the Nvidia Shield, hopefully at a much lower price. #1 in our house I would need a very long HDMI cable to connect the TV to the PC and the setup for the Steam Link is a breeze as the XBox controller we use plugs straight in.

It's easily worth $4.99 or $5.99 with shipping. It would make a great stocking stuffer for anyone who has a gamer in their lives.
