There are a few lifts where you'll want the heels closer to the ground for stability like deadlifts. I personally use flat shoes (no raised heel). I really like the Inov8 Bare series.
I have a pair of the 335's which were my first lifting shoes. For what they are, they are fantastic shoes. I have since bought a pair of Adipowers which I like even better. The Adipowers are indeed better than the 335's for squats and oly lifts, but the difference is merely subtle. The difference between neutral shoes (eg Chucks) and the 335's is like night and day - at least for me - with those lifts. I do end up using the Adipowers for deadlifts sometimes, but that's simply because I'm too lazy/tired to take them off rather than them being the ideal shoe for the job (they're not.)
For the price (I paid like $60 and change for my 335's) they're fantastic. My wife likes her 335's as well but really doesn't squat deep enough to get the full benefit. (Her trainer and I don't see eye to eye about that...)
Oh, and since someone asked, my feet are slightly on the narrow side of normal and the 335's are probably on the wide side of normal, but only slightly. The Adipowers seem dead-on normal.
I cannot for the life of me understand how this could be considered a weight lifting shoe. Balance is essential when lifting, especially heavy, weights. Barefoot is the way to go. Go with Vibrams, or at the least flat shoes for increased stability and injury prevention.
