Toys R Us just released the list of stores it will be closing as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan. There are around 180 locations and you can see them all here. They will be having going out of business sales starting in February.

I guess I will have to finally give up on my childhood dream of winning one of those timed Toys R Us shopping sprees!

Overpriced ghost towns 10 months out of the year. If the toy doesn't have a screen kids won't be interested for very long.

A lot of people assume that, but the wheels were turning years ago: https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamhartung/2017/09/20/toys-r-us-is-a-lesson-in-how-bad-assumptions-feed-bad-financial-planning-creating-failure/#5287fa9f58ea

Basically, TRU did some weird stuff on their balance sheets from the very beginning, and it's only recently come back to haunt them.

I remember my mom taking me to Toys 'R Us in '86 for a NES. I will never forget that ride home. I held the NES tightly the whole way home. Happily, they are not closing my location!
