I bought one of these and its terrible. Its wonderful if you never use the hose and you just want a nice box to put it in. As soon as you try and use the hose/roll it back in.... you'll want to blow this thing up like the Deathstar.
I've had this for years, and it works fine, but I attached it to a 16" paver to make it easier to unroll and roll up. Definitely worth $20. Having said that, if I had to buy another reel, I'd get the kind that has a guide for the hose as it winds back up.

Yeah, this thing is very light and you need it weighted down. Otherwise frustrating to use.
I used to get the plastic Suncast open reel type that mounts on a wall. They do wear out after a few years but part of that is my having a long, heavy Craftsman black rubber hose on it.
In that case you're probably better off with a metal one, something like the following if you don't want to pay more for a fancy design. It has no guide but you don't need one as much with an open reel.
