Looks like a high quality, but very old tech design. Their website states it runs on 3 x D cells. I don't think I've bought D cells since the late '90s, though I do have some AA to D adapter sleeves but this product could really use an update to run on 4 x 18650 cells with USB recharging. I suppose you could DIY mod it for that, "maybe"... 18650 are about 4mm longer than alkaline D cells. There's always 18500.
