That's really not a fair description of the issue. You can find many items listed twice by third party vendors, once as shipped by them, once as "fulfilled by
Amazon
" for a few bucks more. This is the vendor's decision, as they are getting charged by
Amazon
to warehouse and ship the item 2-day.
This is only true for third party vendors and it's not an issue for items sold by
Amazon
directly.

I guess the numbers of expired membersheet hasnt decline. Otherwise they will randomly run a promo discount. As long as there are isheep still camping out for 6s,
Amazon
will still be laughing with $100 membersheet.

It's not really THAT surprising if
Amazon
is pulling this move on people as they want to squeeze as much profit as they can... but it's clearly not THAT severe that
Amazon
is something borderline amoral like a very severe price hike. Also, that website seems very bias against
Amazon
and the reviews are either incompetent people or unfortunate people with bad experiences. Me, my family members, and most of my friends have never had a serious issue buying and return items to and from
Amazon
the last I checked.

If it was that bad, it would have all over the news... and even if it was that bad to begin with, you got people like him too pretentious and self-centered to want to help spread awareness to begin with :P

That being said, it would be cool if we can get a case study of some sort NOT backed by
Amazon
, get 200~ people of varying shopping habits / interest with half being Prime members and the other half non-Prime members, and get them on their computers to view the same item and see where this goes... of course, can't do that because lack of awareness. Welp.

Last discounted prime offering, I bought it.
It would and will not allow me to apply it to my own, existing prime membership -- not as an extension nor renewal.
When I "open up" the digital item, it offers me a refund.... and it offers for me to give the one year to someone else.

So, can I cancel current "membership" then re-join at the lower rate?

Yes, absolutely, I just did that. You'll have to get on a chat session and ask for your existing membership be cancelled immediately instead of just running out. Then log back in and go to this deal. It will be reduced to $67 in your cart, before checkout. I only had to give up 2 days of my existing subscription, so lucky me I guess.
