Seems to be it would be a pain to load. Take each day unit out, fill all 4 compartments; go to next day, fill all four compartments; repeat this 26-29 more times for given month. Usual dispenser: open all caps (usually 7 days x 4 times/day), fill both horizontally and vertically at the same time for each type of Rx, done in about 5 minutes -- good for 7 days. I estimate the other will take 20 minutes (small time savings) but the chances for error are huge. Also spilled pills as you have to keep all Rx bottles open at the same time to do efficiently. With 7 x 4, you take out one bottle, fill all the relevant time/day slots, go to next Rx -- only one bottle open at a time so spilling, etc. is much less of a issue. 31 day product only good if your parent, patient etc. is in really bad mental shape and you can only visit monthly (i.e. should have more constant medical care).
Something to ask doctors when picking a new one: "Do you typically put seniors on several expensive prescriptions". If the answer isn't a straight "no" they're probably going to weasel their way through the answer.
