Had this once. My experience-YMMV: Something always ends up going wrong, making a decent idea less than useful.First, the rake waits for the cat to leave then starts its run - but if the cat, or another comes in to use the box while the rake is going... might be a little traumatic...Then, either the litter gets turned to concrete stuck to the bottom and the machine balks at scooping so it doesn't burn out, or your cat tends to like one side more than the other, so the collection tray gets over filled on one side and is empty on the other, making you have to even it out, or the "odor control lid" doesn't close. And, the disposable lids don't really seal that well when the box is full of lumps and piles of waste - think about trying to snap the little closures to seal the lid closure on a box of summer berries, only that plastic box is now full of cat waste instead... The plastic is better than that (not by much) - think extra thin milk jug plastic. And, you have to make sure you have enough extra waste containers. Perhaps it's better now than when we had it. May work for you, but we ended up donating it. Hope it worked for the next family.
Agreed. The better choice would have been to donate the cat. You could then get a dog like you really wanted in the first place. Then all you would have to get is one of these:

Heck, could buy three and still have enough left over for a few cups of decent coffee with the difference in price.
