I have one of these. It died after a few charges. Now it just sits there waiting for me to throw it away.

these are junk. i bought 4 last year and 2 died after the first snow. the other two worked for a while but now won't hold a charge even after a full day of sun.

It's the garbage batteries they come with, usually solder in place, but if you can get past that, can put life back into them with replacement batteries. Not necessarily will those last either. Constant charge and drain and cold and hot weather is extremely destructive -- also means you don't find any name-brand versions of this.
