I suppose you could use this in a pot of boiling water too, but then you'd have to use a much larger pot.

I'm also fine with using a pot of water, with the secret being to pre-boil the water, then put the eggs in, not heat the water from cold with the eggs already in, which makes it much easier to peel the shells off of later.
