The problem with this is that it will sit on the bottom of the pot and boilnin the water rather than only he steamed. My solution is to simply use a traditional metal steamer basket, sitting on top of a large, high ceramic bowl. The water at the bottom of the pot never touches the food. True steaming.
^ Look at the other pictures, it has legs to allow a sufficient amount of water without touching the food, as long as your cooking vessel has a reasonable lid to not let all the steam out too quickly. In a regular stainless pot and different basket, I usually only need 1/2" of water or less.
I hear ya Dave. I tend to steam larger batches of veggies in my 8qt Instapot and for longer periods so the veggies are super tender. So I like to add plenty of water. The legs on typical metal steamer baskets are too short for my purposes. So I elevate the basket and never worry about accidental boiling.
The feet fell out of my metal steamer basket, were just sort of end-flare riveted on so no easy way to reattach, so I just got some stainless bolts and nuts to use as legs instead. I could have made them longer if I wanted but the original height was enough for my needs.
