you'd want the hedge trimmer for that type of work. This is good for limbs to logs

How much do extra batteries run for these? Plus, how thick of a log could this realistically handle?

Normally it is not a good idea to use any chainsaw on small brush. I speak from experience.

The losoe brush can derail even a properly tensioned chain and bend it, rendering links kinked/frozen.

Although our local shop offers a service to loosen and repair those chains at a price that makes sense.

Depending on the size (how long they will run) the batteries run about $50-100. A 2 pack would be advisable as you can eliminate down time while recharging.

Cordless is much easier and safer for chainsaws in my opinion. You can get a 6 and 4 mah kit for $199 with another free tool.
