If you don't have any M.2 slots , the 2.5" version is the same base price. The $9 coupon code doesn't work on it, but "SSDSAVE" takes off $6 and gets you pretty close.
You can also mount the M.2 2280 in a 2.5" enclosure (costs around $5) and use it like any 2.5" drive, SSD or conventional HDD. This is the SSD type M.2, and they also come as PCI-E type. Same size, same shape, but with a PCI-E control. Much faster drives.
I just had a 500GB MX500 (2.5") die on me and it was less than a year old. Chatted in with Crucial support and got an RMA. Their RMA instructions say that you must include the original packaging and everything that came with it in order to get a replacement. Stupid Crucial. We'll see if I get a replacement without sending anything but the drive in.
