I think this has a lot going for it until I consider the exterior case (gold) probably won't hold up being pretty plastic or looking great after a year or so of college travels I suppose the right thing to do is skin it. Would like a little more than a 256Gb SSD but I suppose that has much more "reuse" value than a 1Tb 5,400 1Tb.
You see that tiny little charging port? It'll give you no end of trouble. It stops working after a little while and you might as well throw away the laptop, since fixing it is not for the faint at heart.
^ Yeah charging ports are a fragile PITA on most laptops. I've even gone so far as finding an empty space on a laptop frame and drilling a hole to add a standard barrel socket connector with jumper wires then a matching barrel plug on the AC adapter, but that won't work on some (Dell esp.) models because there's communication between the adapter and laptop, that needs a 3rd contact, center pin for that handshake.
I bought a similar one a couple years ago. The charge port has survived so far, but the hinged ethernet port has not, it died early on. The laptop as a whole has been good: it survived a "beveraging" the killed an SSD upgrade and the original HDD which was in the drive bay as storage.
