I remember when I paid $50 for a 45W AMD Phenom X2 550, and the thing was unlockable to 4 cores with just a BIOS tweak. I'd be still using it too, if it wasn't for the motherboard getting more and more difficult to power up over time (bad caps? CMOS battery going bad? designed-in gradual product failure?). At $300, isn't AMD getting a bit greedy now that they've beaten Intel?
I just bought a Raspberry Pi 4 for $55. It has 4 cores at 1.5GHz and 4GB of Micron RAM, with built-in OpenGL ES 3-D graphics, dual monitor support, gigabit ethernet, 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0. All while running within a 20W power budget and taking up about the same amount of space as an Altoids tin. Granted, it's not as fast as an x86 processor and doesn't run Windows, but it still seems like a fantastic value to me.
Thank you!
