A couple of notes: 1. I'd buy them at this price, one set of each, if it were from anywhere other than Sears. 2. To Ragnad: Craftsman still claim lifetime warranty ("Forever Guarantee", not sure it is what it was) 3. To SpoonCivic: To "reverse," you flip it over
The Lowes around me honors the Craftsman guarentee. They exchanged some ratchets a month ago that were probably 10 years old and bought from Sears. The new quality is not what was sold at Sears though, at least for ratchets.
It is very sad to see the fate of Sears. Not many Sears stores are left. This is what bad and unethical management does to a business, no matter how large it is.
Fretter went out of business mainly because of bad and unethical management, I was told. It's believed that a few at the very top cleaned the coffers of the company, and took off with golden parachutes!
I have a set of Craftsman ratcheting combination wrenches I purchased years ago. They held up well over time. I do not know if this is the same manufacturing as those that made my set, but I have many craftsman tools and I have always been happy with them. This is a good deal!
Sears big mistake was selling off craftsmen brand. Granted the shift to poorer quality offset by warranty replacement increases didn't help. Harbor freight uses that principal and sadly I now consider buying HF instead of craftsmen. Lowe's has me concerned too as they are killing off the Kobalt name. I worry with Craftsmen now being owned by Black and Decker who have always had a warranty policy of proof of purchase/ship to B&D for warranty. The whole point of craftsmen was to not keep receipt for hassle free warranty. Sadly I have heard Lowes is hit and miss whether they warranty craftsmen . Anybody have any feedback on Lowes regarding craftsmen warranty or anybody else? I doubt sears will make it another year as they keep fire selling off their best stuff at harbor freight prices.
