Use them where you don't want to use rechargeables. I have them in my rooftop weather sensor where I don't want to climb up and change batteries every year, and in my car's glovebox flashlight where it might go years between uses and I don't want alkalines to leak.
Rechargeables are a better choice in most places, but for the exceptions, there's lithium.
