Battery companies keep changing the names (optimum, Ulta, etc.) and packaging but are there any real differences other than price? The Kirkland (Costco house brand) batteries seem to perform just as well as the rest and are much cheaper.

@kwilson - thanks for the link. I would like to see tests within the same manufacturer/category. For example, Duracell Optimum v. their regular alkaline.
@bellemead. If you look at the Costco brand packing. On the back it states they are Duracell batteries packaged for Kirkland. A lot of Kirkland brand items are repackaged by name brands for them. Like shampoo, etc
Optimum are supposedly capable of more current than their regular coppertop, though this is the opposite of my purposes which is alkalines for low drain devices where they'll go 4+ years, or even 10 years if seldom used while a LSD NiMH would've needed recharged a few times to reach that service live.
Higher current devices than that, LSD NiMH every time. A decent major brand of those has better current capacity than any alkaline formulation.

This isn't the only person who has actual data to tell you the difference. Though not specifically about Costco.

Thank you!
