Got the 3rd Gen Echo Dot already and loving it, the only minus is there’s no battery, so you can’t bring it with you.

1) Apparently you missed the Echo Tap when it was available. We have one and it serves the portable purpose very nicely, and with good quality sound. You might be able to find one by watching for refurbs.

2) While the 3rd gen Dot's sound is greatly improved, that comes at the expense of a proprietaty wall wart demanding more power. There are multiple portable battery docks for the 2nd gen Dot and you could even use any USB power bank with it since it has a standard microUSB power port.

Wow that’s an amazing deal. Like others posted I’ve always been skeptical about the devices listening in and the recorded conversations could be hacked. I really hope there’s nothing like that going on and the info is just stored on it and no third party apps can access
