    Maybe that design serves as a heat sink to get rid of the white dwarf-like amount of heat it will generate with 3 video cards...

    There is a current crop of less expensive boutique PC's equipped with GTX 970 or 980, liquid cooling, SSD and 16GB memory, which make Alienware relatively less attractive price wise.
