    I bought a Brother laser printer a few years back and haven't looked back. I only print in B&W and am still using the original toner cartridges. I used to buy printers like this and would refill the cartridges sometimes, but got to where I would just throw them away after they ran out of ink.

    Even buying 3rd party ink will kill you over time if you're buying the color ink version.

    The only affordable brand in terms of ink is Brother. I used to have a HP but it's silly expensive to run. I use Brother at home and in the office. Not the best for the photos, but for documents it's just fine and costs a fraction of HP ink.

    That is why I like my older HP all in one
    I got a set of refillable cartridges that you fill and always read full. Then you get like 5 years of ink for 10 bucks.

    The Instant Ink program is great if you print a lot. My wife is a teacher and it has saved us so much money on ink.

    as a note the free tier for instant ink goes away in december , it'll be 99c a month for 15 pages I think it was, they didn't mention adding a new free tier in the email they sent me. 15 pages was great for me since I use a laser for everything but color, which I rarely need.

    Not the greatest specs but an amazing price! Agreed the ink is worth more than the printer and HP is one of the few mfg's that allows off-brand ink.

    I buy an HP printer every year at this price and it lasts me all year for my color needs and scanning. For everyday printing, I have a laser printer.
