Don’t be tricked into buying an Aero Garden. You have to use their expensive proprietary pods...can’t start from seed.

Actually,
amazon
sells generic pods that let you use your own seeds though the settings on some Aero grows/aero gardens are more flexible than others so ideally you want one with a custom settings option.

From the looks of the Aero Gardens in this deal, you won't need the plastic housing since the tray has it built-in. Liquid nutrients are required but it looks like HomeDepot sells the AeroGarden branded for ~$26 for a liter.

I have the original AeroGrow and purchased the above AeroGarden to replace it- Very good deal.

Just make your own from the garden store and skip the pods.
