I have the 1st gen fire stick and the 1st gen Roku Stick. I have used both for several years. The Stick was my primary device until recently where I'm starting to feel how sluggish it is. I switched back to the Roku stick and it is slow but better than the fire stick. I'm looking to finally upgrade this black Friday but I'm conflicted between the latest Fire TV and the Roku Ultra
Overall GUI; The fire stick has a better interface that is integrated with Prime. Overall options; I think the Roku has more to offer. I'm interested in the night mode
The main benefit of the Premier+ or the Ultra Roku is they have a wired ethernet port. If you need that those are your choices. Roku's are great for less tech-savvy people because they are the simplest streaming boxes to set up. The main benefit of the Fire devices is that under the hood they are Android boxes and you can install just about any Android app available. I have both and they both have their uses.
