I like the heated vests that work with a USB battery pack. You can get up and walk around, or even use them to stay warm outside. They last a couple of hours on a 10A battery, but you can easily carry extra packs. Of course, all that hardware is a more expensive proposition. If you only need the heat while you're stationary near mains power, then this is better.
