This gable fan seems like the wrong approach, or it's overdoing it.
In my shed, I put a 4" dryer vent through the wall at the gable, inserted a 4" round computer case fan, and connected it to a 5 watt solar panel on the roof of the shed. When the sun is shining, the fan is spinning. The brighter the sun, the faster the fan. Makes a huge difference in the temperature in the shed. This could easily be scaled up to an attic or a barn, and it's no cost to operate.
