After just over a year, the primary USB-C charging port failed on my laptop,,,,, still works for data transfer. Now I'm waiting for failure of the remaining USB-C port's ability to be used for charging. Repair was quoted at +$500

If it's a separate daughter PCB, you might be able to find that and DIY repair it. If you have the soldering skill and tools, you might even be able to DIY repair it cheaper still.

They usually fail due to excess stress on the port, so be sure to use a USB cable with a connector that doesn't fit too tight (as some generics do), and don't bump or put any side strain on it.

I've been saying it for years, that connector size shrink isn't necessarily a good thing except on tiny devices that need to save a few millimeters of space.
