This Kobalt/Lowe’s store brand certainly is far from Snapon tools grade, but if you’re not a professional mechanic, the Kobalt tools remain solid. Pretty hard to find a more complete set of equal grade tools this cheap.
Costco has been selling a pretty much equivalent grade Stanley tool set for the same price but it does not include a case and is not as complete.
Have to laugh because Menards is trying to sell a big all-in-one kit of no-name tools for $1,350, on sale!?! Admittedly, it also includes some more general use tools as well, but no where near another $1,250 worth of tools! Menards must believe it is April 1st.
Wish they would leave off the 40 hex keys, not sure about the other 38 tools either. Nice case but you have to wonder how long it will last. The 90 degree ratchets in this set are probably pretty good.
I have this set - 2 actually. It's not bad for the money - certainly a good tool set to have around for household stuff. My sets both lose tools out of the lid. When you open the lid, you have to snap them back in - it's just an annoyance. My mid-sized socket wrenches do NOT like to keep their levers in the tighten position. This is really annoying. I also wish that it came with a few of the larger sizes of sockets. Id recommend this to the average person, but I can't say that it's pro-level. This set, plus some various sized pliers and something to cut and strip wire would be a complete basic tool set.
