A project like this gets announced and made, and you don&#8217;t really believe it will deliver on the level that it should. It still may not, but after watching this its hard not to let your imagination spiral into extreme expectation. Here it is:<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-shortcode\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"620\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/swXsW3mOuLM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The things that make this trailer work are many. I have made a list.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span class=\"itemprop\"><span class=\"itemprop\">Director\/writer Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu is coming back strong after his Oscar-winning\u00a0<em>Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),\u00a0<\/em>in which Michael Keaton went meta and the ideals of the entertainment industry were torn to shreds, one extended take at a time.\u00a0<em>The Revenant\u00a0<\/em>couldn&#8217;t show a more different story, yet\u00a0I\u00f1\u00e1rritu&#8217;s gift for poignancy\u00a0seems only more steadfast.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"itemprop\"><span class=\"itemprop\">The cinematography in the trailer is already stunning. Of course, that&#8217;s in large part due to Emmanual Lubezki, who, as cinematographer, has put the visions of Terrence Malick and Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n so effectively to the screen. Lubezki is the guy who transports you in the film better than anyone else. He did\u00a0<em>Gravity<\/em>. He did\u00a0<em>Birdman<\/em>. Here he overcomes his good looks with a beard and some existential\u00a0resignation. Whether this is the role that gets him the Oscar is irrelevant. He&#8217;s performing like he already has 20.<\/li>\n<li>Tom Hardy is in it. Tom Hardy was Mad Max this year.
