The fourth film in the\u00a0<em>Jurassic Park\u00a0<\/em>franchise saw a massive, record-obliterating global weekend. The total number is about $512 million in all markets around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The previous record for a global weekend opening was $314 million, held by\u00a0<em>Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2<\/em>. Though many factors play into that number &#8211; most importantly which markets are actually a party to the simultaneous debut &#8211; there&#8217;s no denying that pumping it up by $200 million, as\u00a0<em>Jurassic World\u00a0<\/em>so surprisingly did, is quite a feat.<\/p>\n<p>As for the U.S. alone,\u00a0<em>Jurassic World\u00a0<\/em>was certainly (not) a massive disappointment to investors at just $204.6 million, missing out on the best weekend opening in history by a sorry $3 million. In first place still sits\u00a0the first\u00a0<em>Avengers\u00a0<\/em>film ($207 million), while\u00a0<em>Avengers: Age of Ultron\u00a0<\/em>was bumped down to third.<\/p>\n<p>Estimates thrown around for <em>Jurassic World\u00a0<\/em>in the past few weeks rarely hit over $100 million for the film&#8217;s U.S. opening.
