Earlier this week, Ben’s posted a deal<\/a> for the\u00a0OxyLED Smart L100 Eye-Care LED Desk Lamp (and the L120). Only the 2nd time the L100 has\u00a0fallen to a price low of $32, we decided to pick one up\u00a0to see if it was worth the sale price. Adding in our 5% Amazon Prime discount when using<\/a> the Amazon Store Card, the lamp will ultimately cost us a grand total of $30.40<\/strong> shipped.<\/p>\n

Design<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0OxyLED\u00a0L100 arrives in a fairly nondescript cardboard box, only touting features such as a 50,000 hour, 20 year life along the side of the box. The L100 is packaged extremely well in Styrofoam with the LED safely tucked against the arm of the lamp.\u00a0The base of the lamp is relatively\u00a0heavy compared to the arm and actual LED lamp. The arm of the lamp slides\u00a0into the\u00a0base tightly, then snaps in place. At this point, you can\u00a0move the lamp around by picking up the arm rather than the base; it’s very solid.<\/p>\n

\"l100-led-swivel\"<\/p>\n

The LED portion of the lamp folds upward and can be angled completely vertically if needed. The LED also swivels 360 degrees, ideal if you want to point the lamp upward to bounce light off the ceiling. At the base of the arm, you will find the L100 power button as well as the light intensity arrow buttons. By default, the lamp will be on the highest intensity when first turning it on. (If you purchase the L120, it comes with a color temperature adjustment as well)<\/p>\n

On the left side of the arm, you will find the connection for the power cord.\u00a0One issue that could be a problem for some is the short, 5-foot power cord. That\u00a0could be an issue if you are placing the lamp on a surface besides a desk.<\/p>\n

\"led-lamp-base\"<\/p>\n

On the right side of the arm, a USB port has been included for charging devices. I plugged up my iPhone 6 Plus to the charging port (5V\/1.1A) and was able to recharge the battery by 10 percent in approximately 15 minutes, decent enough for daily use. The USB port could also be ideal for any desk items such as fans, a mini-fridge<\/a>\u00a0or those awesome NERF proximity blasters<\/a>. It will also continue charging, despite the lamp being off.<\/p>\n

Functionality<\/h3>\n

Over the last 48\u00a0hours, I’ve been using the lamp sporadically to read over documents as well brighten up my office after the sun goes down. I have no complaints about the quality of the lamp or the five levels of brightness. I like to use the highest level for reading and a mid-range level at night when writing at the computer.<\/p>\n

I like that it requires less power than most models, only 9 watts. I also like the flexibility\u00a0options\u00a0of the lamp. The lamp arm even swivels to the left and right at the base, ideal when I want to swing the lamp to another part of my desk. The LED\u00a0also never gets hot, again ideal when making positioning adjustments while the lamp is on.<\/p>\n

Should You Buy It?<\/h3>\n

At a price point around $30, this is a steal for LED lighting in a home office. Competing products range from $40 up to $150 depending on the brand and the number of features that comes with the lamp. One other brand,\u00a0LAMPAT, goes on sale for a similar price on Amazon, but reports of problematic touchscreens on those models make the OxyLED brand a superior choice for your lighting needs.<\/p>\n
