Enough cannot be said about the ridiculously cool design work of Fernando Reza, a graphic artist from Los Angeles. Just taking a look at his site, you will notice a variety of posters and other illustrations on the subject of various movies, television shows, video games and everything else related to pop culture.

This particular set of Mario Propaganda illustrations highlights the patriotism being promoted to residents of the Mushroom Kingdom, mainly a call to action to fight the dangerous menace known as Mario. You will see Goombas, Bullet Bill, Boo and a variety of other Super Mario enemies portrayed as heroes as they continue to battle the evil mustachioed plumber.

King Koopa must have his hands full cranking the propaganda machine in order to keep the Mushroom Kingdom united against Mario. Reza’s work was also used within the popular First Person Goomba video that details the typical life span of a Goomba.

Check out some of the ridiculously awesome designs created by Pete Ware at his 17th and Oak store on Etsy. Ware takes a popular line from a movie and molds the character that spoke that line out of the letters with some cool typography choices.

In addition to the killer Star Wars themed designs seen below, he’s also developed similar designs for characters from Ghostbusters, Rocky, Terminator, Goodfellas, The Godfather, Blade Runner, Transformers, Lord of the Rings, Drive and Anchorman. We all have memories of our first video game system. For me, the original Nintendo (NES) was set up in my childhood dentist’s office — who knew there were ways to get seven year olds excited about oral hygiene? But if you’ve been gaming since joysticks were the height of technological prowess, it’s nearly impossible to remember them all. Until now. Blow a little air into the dusty cartridge of your memory and check out the newest print from Pop Chart Lab featuring the meticulous and beautiful Evolution of Video Game Controllers.

What started with a single button and knob combo circa 1958’s Tennis for Two has evolved into controllers in nearly every shape imaginable. Wheels, guns, guitars, magic wands and, hey, is that a set of maracas I spot in there? It reads like a Choose Your Own Adventure chart by way of a Family Tree, with a color key at the bottom to define the different controller types and how they’re chronologically related. Remarkable.

Because one drone strike can ruin your whole day, New York-based designer Adam Harvey has created what he calls the “anti-drone hoodie,” currently on display at a London exhibit titled “Stealth Wear.”

Actually, the real concern isn’t military drones, it’s surveillance drones operated by law enforcement and private companies — some estimates say that there will be 20,000 of those in the skies over the U.S. within 15 years. The hoodie is made using metallic threads, and it’s supposed to reflect heat, thereby hiding the wearer from the thermal imaging spy cameras on all these drones.

It’s also extremely fashionable, as seen in this concept art from Harvey’s site:

While it may look like it wouldn’t offer any camouflage against a midriff-seeking drone, that apparently doesn’t matter; as devoted tinfoil-hat wearers will tell you, it’s most important to protect the head.
