As of 01/31/17, Walmart has shut down ShippingPass; the company’s Amazon Prime competitor. Previously offering expedited shipping for a yearly fee, ShippingPass has been halted in favor of a free 2-day shipping offer for qualifying items (within an order over $35).

Detailed on the FAQ page related to the closure, anyone participating in ShippingPass will be issued an automatic refund of their yearly fee within 30 days. If a ShippingPass subscriber hasn’t received a refund by March 2, 2017, Walmart recommends contacting the financial institution that should be receiving it.

Rather than offering a subscription service, Walmart will simply offer free 2-day shipping on millions of qualifying items. If an order isn’t at least $35, customers will be offered an opportunity to pay $5.99 for 2-day shipping. Of course, customers have to place their orders by 2 p.m. PT in order to receive the shipment within two days.

Items that don’t qualify for free two-day shipping will be included in the free, 3 to 5 day shipping program. Again, these orders have to be $35 or more in order to qualify for $0 shipping.
