<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="sharethis-inline-share-buttons" ></div><p>If there&#8217;s any month of the year in free game deals that exemplifies the stark contrast between PlayStation and Xbox&#8217;s current market appeal, this August is it. Following up <a href="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/bens-bytes/games-gold-august-2015-offering-full-ups-downs/">yesterday&#8217;s AAA-filled Games with Gold announcement</a> from Microsoft is today&#8217;s PS Plus August 2015 indie-filled offerings. For anyone who isn&#8217;t prejudiced against games that fail to take up at least 15 percent of your hard drive, it&#8217;s a solid list.</p>
<p>Each game begins its free month on Tuesday, Aug. 4. And don&#8217;t forget, you still have time to pick up <a href="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/bens-bytes/ps-plus-july-2015-freebies-dig-deep-obscure/" target="_blank">July&#8217;s games</a> in the meantime if you want to get in on the car soccer frenzy everyone&#8217;s talking about.</p>

<p><strong>Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Lara-Croft-and-the-Temple-of-Osiris.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-20093 size-full" src="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Lara-Croft-and-the-Temple-of-Osiris.jpg" loading="lazy" alt="Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris PS Plus August 2015" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Lara-Croft-and-the-Temple-of-Osiris.jpg 1280w, https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Lara-Croft-and-the-Temple-of-Osiris-300x169.jpg 300w, https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Lara-Croft-and-the-Temple-of-Osiris-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></a></p>
<p>This follow-up to 2010&#8217;s well-received <em>Lara Croft and the Guardians of Light </em>eschews the overt seriousness of the current AAA reboot series and capitalizes on one undeniable truth &#8211; video games are more fun with other people around. Four-player co-op in the puzzle/monster-laden treasure troves of Lara&#8217;s original adventures is as silly and entertaining as it sounds. It shouldn&#8217;t be tough to find fellow tomb raiders now that the game is free for a month.</p>
<p><strong>Limbo</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Limbo.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-20091 size-full" src="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Limbo.jpg" loading="lazy" alt="Limbo PS Plus August 2015 PS4" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Limbo.jpg 1280w, https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Limbo-300x169.jpg 300w, https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Limbo-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></a></p>
<p>An indie classic from the previous generation is making its double-dip rounds, inviting players back into the somber and engrossing adventure of a boy trying to find his sister in some nebulous place. Inspiring many and surpassed by none, <em>Limbo </em>does simple and precarious like no other, trading the popular bubbly color present elsewhere for bleak atmosphere and dire consequence. It&#8217;s short but incalculably memorable.</p>

<p><strong>Sound Shapes (also free on PS4, PS3)</strong></p>
<p>Honestly, this one&#8217;s a bit tough to describe. It&#8217;s a game easily overlooked as a 2D-platformer with noticeably pretentious ambitions, but the overall presentation &#8211; from the peculiar environmental designs and dynamically-integrated soundtrack &#8211; validate the pretentious vibes and transform it into a viable success. Did that help? No? Just watch this video, then.</p>
<div class="video-shortcode"><iframe title="YouTube video player" width="620" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/e1mOCoInJdM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
<p><strong>Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones (also free on PS4, PS3)</strong></p>
<p>Two-dimensional stealth titles are rising in popularity, buffeted by such titles as <em>Mark of the Ninja </em>and the very series listed here. <em>Stealth Inc. 2 </em>does what any good sequel does by improving and adding to the first, with tense stealth/puzzle challenges and an array of new gadgets. The co-op mode is a particular success, extending the time-value of the game a bit beyond your average indie affair.</p>

<p><strong>God of War: Ascension</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/God-of-War-Ascension-PS-Plus-August-2015.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-20095" src="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/God-of-War-Ascension-PS-Plus-August-2015.jpg" loading="lazy" alt="God of War: Ascension PS Plus August 2015" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/God-of-War-Ascension-PS-Plus-August-2015.jpg 1920w, https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/God-of-War-Ascension-PS-Plus-August-2015-300x169.jpg 300w, https://bensbargains.com/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/God-of-War-Ascension-PS-Plus-August-2015-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></a></p>
<p>The fourth game in the <em>God of War </em>series is the worst game in the <em>God of War </em>series, but it&#8217;s still a pretty good game. It just wasn&#8217;t good enough to be called <em>God of War VI. </em>Instead, this prequel introduces a strangely satisfying, melee-focused competitive multiplayer mode and a gouging out of elephant eyeballs. And <em>God of War III: Remastered </em>did just hit the PS4 last month, so take that as you will.</p>
<p><strong>Castlestorm (also free on PS Vita)</strong></p>
<p>The Definitive Edition of this game already went free on the Xbox One a few months back, undoubtedly a massive, market-swinging get for Microsoft. Still, the non-definitive edition is sure to be just fine if you happen to be saddled with a PS3. (this was all a joke, please don&#8217;t kill me). This brawler/tower-defense title is good for a few hours of strategy and utter failure to protect your family, if you want to look at it that way.</p>
