I've had dozens of WD drives at home and tons more at my workplace. Never had one fail. I can't say much about refurbished though. - weslacocubs
If you had their Black, Gold or Enterprise drives, I agree with you. But the run of the mill drives, Blue or Green, then no. When people came into my shop with a failed drive, 95% of the time it was a Seagate or a WD.

Noob question, how can you tell if it's black, gold or enterprise. Is it listed in description? Ty
All drives eventually fail. I'd be more concerned about how it's handled, packing and shipping, and # of hours on it. Plus what is this Allstate warranty? If this is WD's storefront, why isn't WD handling the warranty?
Then again, of the drives I've had fail over the years, from more brands than just WD or Seagate, I can't recall more than one that failed within the warranty and it was so long ago, I can't recall the brand. Probably Maxtor as those were dirt cheap after a rebate and or Office Depot coupon codes so in that 00's era I bought several Maxtors.
