Also: I can't say we have any evidence of Total Wireless throttling us (and our plan is kinda sorta unlimited), but then again there's a pandemic so maybe we're using more wifi than cellular data these days. So basically only one negative experience with them so far: we're on the automatic payment plan and mysteriously one month they just "lost" all our billing info and I had to get it fixed (it was easy to spot -- everyone's SIMs stopped working). CS rep had absolutely no clue how it happened -- they kept claiming our "credit card company had refused the charge" but I checked and Chase said it was never submitted.
I also hate that TW provides virtually no billing info or usage data, let alone historical access. So you're kinda flying blind and with kids, I would sorta like to know who's burning the gigs.
We're a family of four, so we were with Verizon for some decade or longer, and then I got the bright idea to move everyone and their CDMA phones over to TW. Cut our bill from $180/month (I think it was 20ish GB at the time on a family plan) to under $100 and unlimited (I think TW throttles after...is it 100GB, or maybe there's a per-phone cap? I don't know what are net monthly usage is but I suspect it's between 20-30 GB). I also think each of us can tether up to 10GB a month which has definitely happened once or twice.
Aside from the near nonexistent usage data that I mentioned above, it's a good fit for us. We don't switch carriers, don't need a 2-SIM setup. Basically it's a "pop the SIM in and stare at Instagram (or whatever the kids are doing these days)" usage pattern. We also get great signal (Verizon) pretty much everywhere.
Thank you!
