I've never understood the 'value add' of the decanter for whiskey. what's the big deal really?
why not just pour it straight from the bottle? Is it just the 'snob value' perhaps? ;-)

The decanter is because if you have one on a tray on a side table you look organized and classy while if you have open bottles of whisky lying around it looks like you didn't clean up from last night.
