Been meaning to thank you, LJW, for several months. I took your advice and got the same server. It's awesome as a Plex server. I also use it for my security cameras.

Thanks again.
What server are you guys using? I need to stream 4K 60mbps mkv's from Plex.
Hey Pete wow that's so cool! Glad my recommendation worked for you and you're enjoying OpenMediaVault! You could try this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/123791516248 but it requires some TLC and purchasing some parts (drive cage, SAS card, cables...) before you can get started. Warnings: - Stay away from Adaptec SAS cards. They ****. - I bought the Intel RAID card for this server, only to find out it doesn't support drives larger than 2TB - Best SAS board I could find for Debian was the LSILogic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002RL8I7M save yourself some time and just get that if you want to hook up a lot of drives
Oh, and sorry to disappoint, LJW stands for Lord John Whorfin. WTF is a jort?
never mind, looked it up on UrbanDictionary. Loved the example they gave: "check out this jort wearing douche, he's a bottle of moonshine short of marrying his sister"
Why would you build a power-hungry Intel server in place of this?
Get a 4/5 bay external drive enclosure with USB3 or eSATA and a Raspberry Pi 4 and run Open Media Vault. Way cheaper and low low power consumption. Just velcro the Pi to the top of the enclosure.
I love my Synology. It does so much more then just file serving, it’s well worth the money. This is coming from someone with over 30 years of experience in IT.

@LJW, link? Also, does the WJ in "LWJ" stand for Wear(ing) Jorts? That would be super rad.
