Crygon- Valve is definitely losing money on this and writing it off. It did the same thing last year with the steam link. I think those were selling for $2.50 plus shipping. The controllers are pretty good especially at this price.

I bought one. I already had one previously but grabbed another because they're great controllers. For people who've never played with a steam controller before, it's the best controller to play FPS shooters. Its far more accurate than a xbox 360 controller and it's also good for games like Civilization or anything that requires a mouse.
Works with PC and steamlink automatically plug and play. You can even use it as a home theater PC remote. It can control the mouse in windows 10/7/8/macosx with good accuracy.
You can use it to play any PC game even ones without steam but the best way to use it is to open games with steam if you need custom mapping of the controller. There's a way to open up any game/program even if it's not sold on steam through steam. But as I said you don't have to use steam if you dont' want to. If a game has controller support it'll work.
